About The Author

Sarah Walton Published Author

Artist and Editor of Language Odyssey Sarah Walton graduated from Cornell University. She studied at the Rhode Island School of Design and has held several coveted positions in the art world. She has been Art Director of Harper’s Magazine, Art and Antiques, Art and Auction, The Washingtonian and Chicago Magazine. She served as graphic designer for ABC-TV Network News and created numerous illustrations for The New Republic, The Washington Post and Elizabeth Arden. She continues to paint from her mountainside home she shares with her husband, Bill Walton, and their three terriers in Little Washington, Virginia.

The Los Amigos Series
Follow the adventures of Lucia, Camila, Javier and Pedro as they deal with pesky siblings and make new friends on their many adventures.
  • Los Amigos en Espana (Level 1)

    Students get a taste of Spain with this lively introduction to Spanish! They will describe their world with colors, numbers, and adjectives and meet and greet friends as they visit a group of Spanish children at home and at school. Students continue their tour of Spain’s geography and traditions with maps, stories and recipes included in this book. This book covers colors, numbers, adjectives, members of the family and professions.

  • Los Amigos en Marbella (Level 2)

    In this second installment, students go to the beach! But first, they plan a trip through town to buy supplies. Enjoy a picnic lunch as students learn about delicious foods, discussing what they like and dislike about food, the weather and sea life. Students will be fully engaged as they hunt for the lost treasure map in the sand, eager to see where it will lead. This book covers locations, food, weather and modes of transportation.

  • Los Amigos en Costa Rica (Level 3)

    The treasure hunt continues into level three as our characters travel to the rainforest and admire nature and animals. Students learn how to swim, climb, and explore the mountains, rivers and jungles of Costa Rica. They learn parts of the body, describing which of the adventurers injured what during their trip to Costa Rica. Read Central American folktales, discuss ecology and cook native foods from the recipes in this book.

    Put on a show at the theatre in Lima! Meet actors, dancers, singers and playwrights. Students design costumes and build a stage set for their play. Follow our adventurers as they visit an archeological site to research authentic Inca history. Every traveler must earn his keep! Buy camping provisions and divide up the chores. The younger siblings of our adventurers in the Los Amigos series find plenty of trouble and fun as they tag along after their older brothers and sisters!

    This introduction to Spanish is for children from kindergarten to second grade. The oral approach emphasizes learning through coloring activities, songs and games. The first book covers numbers, letters, colors and shapes.

    The second of this series follows the same storyline as Los Amigos en Espana but with lessons that are more appropriate for this age group.

No.  You may purchase just one book in a series or the whole set.  While they are designed to work in a series, they can be used individually as needed to bolster your student’s skills.
